I feel so lucky to live in the Lake Chelan area and have an easy access to the wilderness that surrounds Stehekin. Hiking, backpacking and camping are truly inspiring and unique experiences to receive. So, I love to paint the sights after returning home so I can live with the memories every day. After retiring I started painting as a hobby. My sister Diane Paton Peel has been a great instructor and we often venture out together along with Bob, and share inspiration. My husband Bob is the best trip navigator and man of the woods which is a great help in obtaining wilderness locations.
Cabins at Domke Lake

Bob and I would visit “Sid’s Dig’s” often and enjoy that special place. I am so glad I could capture the moment before the fire took it all away.

I love to hike the Lakeshore Trail and enjoy the early morning view looking down lake which I captured in this painting.

The Buckner Orchard
Oil in wood frame – total size 10.5” x 12.5”
While growing up in Stehekin (1957-1961) our family would help Harry Buckner harvest the apple crop. It is wonderful that the orchard is still in operation today – the painting shows the ancient trees.
